Congratulations to Doaa Farid who won the Patients' Choice Award at the NAPCRG

Doaa Farid who is completing a PhD under the supervision of Dr. Ellen Rosenberg and Dr. Gillian Bartlett, won the Patients' Choice Award at the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG). She presented her work on a video for immigrants that is part of the Tapestry Project. This is two years in a row one of our trainees took home this award. Congratulations!

Drs. Bertrand Lebouché and Charo Rodriguez were awarded a grant totaling 160,000.00 CAD for their application to the Mitacs-Accelerate Internship Program

On August 18, 2015, Drs. Bertrand Lebouché and Charo Rodriguez were awarded a grant totaling 160,000.00 CAD for their application to the Mitacs-Accelerate Internship Program (72,000 from the partner organization, Merck Inc, and 88,000 from Mitacs). Mitacs is a national, not-for-profit organization that supports research-based innovation, in part, through a research internship program designed to increase deployment of highly educated graduates into the private sector.

The Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, Dr. Bergman, has signed a letter of intent between McGill and the Shenzhen Association of Community Health, China

On July 31st, in Shenzhen, China, Dr Howard Bergman, Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, signed a letter of intent between the Royal Institution for the Advancement of Learning (Department of Family Medicine of McGill University) and the Shenzhen Association of Community Health.

Congratulations to Dr. Ann Macaulay on being honoured as one of the Top 20 Pioneers in Family Medicine Research in Canada!

We are proud to announce that Dr. Ann Macaulay, Professor and Founding Director of Participatory Research at McGill (PRAM) in our department, was recently chosen as one of the Top 20 Pioneers of Family Medicine Research in Canada by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). These pioneers in Family Medicine research were among the first to apply new research methodologies, laying the ground work for the advancement of family medicine in Canada. The Isaac Tannenbaum Annual Research Day

The Isaac Tannenbaum Annual Research Day on May 29 brought together essentially all of our residents from our six Family Medicine Units and our three satellites sites.  The resident oral presentations were fantastic with many were excellent examples of practice-based research pointing to how practice can be improved by research.  These presentations were complemented by our guest speakers, Dr. Howard Bergman who spoke about our growing academic department and Dr. Marion who talked about her journey as a clinician scientist.  We also had Ms.

Dr. Peter Nugus & Dr. Charo Rodriguez successful in bid to host the 2018 OBHC International Conference

Peter Nugus and Charo Rodriguez, from the Department of Family Medicine have been successful in bidding for the department and Montreal to host the "2018 International Conference on Organizational Behavior in Health Care (OBHC)". The theme of the conference is: "Coordinating Care Across Boundaries and Borders: Systems, Networks and Collaborations".

Family Medicine Interest Groups (FMIG) on Bill 20

Two members of the McGill Family Medicine Student Interest Group (FAMSIG), Annick Gauthier and Hiromi Tissera, were involved in producing a joint paper with other Quebec Family Medicine Interest Groups (FMIGs) on Bill 20. FAMSIG is a group of McGill Medical Students interested in family medicine, whose mission is to promote medical student exposure to family medicine.

Congratulations to Stephanie Ballard and Svetlana Puzhko on receiving an FRQS scholarship!

We're proud to announce that two graduate students in our department, Stephanie Ballard and Svetlana Puzhko, were awarded FRQS scholarships! Stephanie Ballard is completing an MSc in Family Medicine and is being co-supervised by Dr. Machelle Wilchesky and Dr. Mark Yaffe.
