Early Childhood Symposium 2020 (February 11 & 12, 2020) will feature two McGill Education speakers: Dr. Sheryl Smith-Gilman will give the Opening Plenary as Keynote Speaker and Dr. Tina Montreuil will lead the workshop "Healthy Minds, Healthy Schools & Resilience Building in Children: Preliminary Outcomes". The symposium will be held at Palace Centre de Congrès (1717 Boul le Corbusier, Laval, Québec, H7S 2K7).

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed January 24 as International Day of Education, in celebration of the role of education for peace and development.

Without inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth and adults behind.

The Department of Integrated Studies in Education's Dr. Allison Gonsalves was asked to speak at McGill's December 6th event honouring the memory of the victims of the Polytechnique Massacre; the 30th anniversary of the tragedy and the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. Nearly 60 Cree students their graduation from McGill University's Faculty of Education this past Saturday in Pikogan, Quebec. Our Office of First Nations and Inuit Education offers full-time and part-time teacher certification programs in Cree and Inuit communities in Quebec as well as in Kahnawake and Listuguj. Even though these students may be far away off campus, they are an important part of our Faculty and the McGill community. CBC's Susan Bell covered the story.
