The Department of History and Classics program invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in Ancient Greek language and literature, effective 1 August 2010. Professors Hans Beck and Renaud Gagné have secured two prestigious research grants. Professor Beck's work on "Ancient Worlds Elites", a joint research project with Professor Vankeerberghen, receives SSHRC funding for 2009-2011 (RDI). Professor Gagné obtained a grant from the Loeb Classical Library Foundation to conduct research on "Choral Intermediality: Pragmatics and Perspective in Greek Drama".
CLAS 348 Greek and Roman Topography (Fronda). Special Topic: The Fall of the Republic. Course will examine the changing urban landscapes of Roman Italy in the age of Sulla and Caesar, through the analysis of texts, material evidence, monuments and architecture. Includes visits to museums and sites in Florence, Fiesole, Rome and Pompeii. Interested students should contact Professor Fronda.
