Due to some recent work by the City of Montreal on its water pipes, the tap water in some McGill buildings may be slightly discoloured. This should not be a cause for concern. The City of Montreal has assured McGill that the discoloured water poses no health hazard and that the City is continuing to purge its system to remove any trace of discoloured water.

McGill continues to closely monitor the situation in Indonesia after a 7.7 earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit the city of Padang and nearby Mentawai Islands. On Thursday, Oct. 14, there will be a university-wide test of our automated notification service, "McGill | Attention!" Phase 1 of the test will occur at approximately 10:40am. Phases 2 and 3 will disrupt all traffic to the www.mcgill.ca website from approximately 9:00pm to 9:30pm.
Professor Roderick Macdonald will be receiving an honorary doctorate from Université de Montréal during its fall convocation ceremony to be held on October 7, 2010.
The devastation from damage and disease in the wake of catastrophic floods in Pakistan remains an urgent problem. More than 1,600 have been killed and an estimated 17.2 million people have been affected since the floods occurred toward the end of July, according to the United Nations. The need for relief support is enormous.
McGill continues to closely monitor the situation in Pakistan where the country’s worst flooding in nearly a century has affected more than 14 million people and left at least 1,600 dead, according to the United Nations.
The replacement of a major water main at the corner of McGill College Ave. and Sherbrooke St. W. will result in some partial and temporary street and sidewalk closings in the area adjacent to the Roddick Gates until early August. The work began Monday, June 14.
