am is\nproud to announce its upcoming production of August Strindberg’s A
 \nDream Play\, appearing in the English Department’s Moyse Hall\nbeginning
March 22-24\, and continuing March 29-31\, 2012.\n\nCreated to simulate t
he logic of a dream\, the play follows the\nDaughter of Indra in her desce
nt to the human realm: an unstable\nworld in constant flux\, dominated by
all manner of colorful\ncharacters. This play epitomizes Strindberg’s work
post his\n“inferno” period\, when the playwright departed from the natura
list\nmovement which he helped pioneer\, into the realm of the unconscious
\nmind.\nIn collaboration with the Costuming for the Theatre and Stage\nSc
enery & Lighting courses\, Professor Myrna Wyatt Selkirk and\nassistant Na
talie Gershtein direct the 2011-12 Theatre Lab class in\nan exciting new i
nterpretation of Strindberg’s notoriously\nchallenging masterpiece. The ca
st and crew have devised an\ninnovative use of the space and have utilized
  a vast array of\ninfluences – including mask\, dance\, film and projectio
ns –  to\nimmerse the audience in the ever-present issues of class\, polit
ics\,\nlove\, and mortality which comprise this meditation on existence. I
