 al level: she has been Special\nRapporteur on freedom of religion or belie
 f of the United Nations\nCommission on Human Rights since 2004. Ms. Jahang
 ir founded\nPakistan’s first female law firm in 1980 and has\, at her own
 \npersonal risk\, fought human rights violations in the courts and in\nthe
  media for almost 30 years.\nMs. Jahangir’s talk will be followed by a pan
 el discussion on\nthe challenges facing human rights activists\, and will 
 include the\nparticipation of The Hon. Irwin Cotler\, M.P. and Bassem Eid\
 , a past\nLitvack recipient and director of the Palestinian Human Rights\n
 Monitoring Group in East Jerusalem. A reception will follow.\n \nAbout the
  Litvack Award & Lecture\nThe Award was created in 1987 to recognize the m
 emory of Mr.\nRobert S. Litvack\, a tireless defender of Aboriginal rights
 . It is\nawarded to 'a person who has made a distinguished contribution to
 \nthe defense of the rule of law and the protection of the individual\naga
 inst arbitrary power'.\n
