DESCRIPTION:Paul S. Kayne\, PhD\, Applied Genomics\, Bristol-Myers Squibb C
 o. As gene expression profiling experiments become more complex\, new tool
s are needed for successful prosecution. Improvements needed include large
r batch sizes\, higher throughput\, increased reproducibility and new meth
ods of analysis. Here we present a validation of a new high throughput arr
ay system. Through automation and new designs\, this system enables large
scale experimental designs. Understanding the mechanisms and effects
of compounds is an area that has largely been underserved by gene expressi
on profiling\, due in part to modestly designed experiments. We will discu
ss our approach to understanding kinase inhibitors. We employ the high thr
oughput arrays to undertake designs incorporating dose curves\, and new me
thods for analysis. Taken together\, we are able to better understand the
actions of these inhibitors on multiple targets of action.\n
