DESCRIPTION:John M. Coffin is American Cancer Society Professor and Disting
 uished Professor\, Depts of Molecular Biology and Microbiology\, Tufts Uni
 versity\, Boston. He also serves as advisor on HIV and AIDS to the Nationa
 l Cancer Institute and to the HIV Drug Resistance Program (DRP)\, which he
  founded in 1997. He is well known for his work on retrovirus genetics\, g
 enome structure and evolution\, and is author of nearly 200 publications. 
 Dr. Coffin has also been an editor or editor-in-chief of many internationa
 l leading journals including 'Science\,' 'Proceedings of National Academy 
 of Sciences USA' and the 'Journal of Virology'\; he is senior editor of 'R
 etroviruses\,' the definitive text on the subject. In 1999\, he was electe
 d to the National Academy of Sciences USA\, in recognition of his contribu
