DESCRIPTION:In this series of workshops\, the Graduate Diploma in Legal Tra
 nslation at McGill University invites you to discover different dimensions
  of professions at the crossroad of law and languages. We offer both intro
 ductory workshops to key professions\, such as legal translation and court
  interpreting\, as well as workshops on highly specialized issues that wil
 l better meet the needs of experienced jurilinguists.\n\nIn workshop Order
  in the Language! An Introduction to Legal and Court Interpreting\, we wil
 l focus on legal and court interpreting.\n\nWhether in front of a judge or
  in a lawyer’s office\, legal/court interpreting requires quick decisions 
 and exact delivery. This 90-minute workshop introduces you to the three ma
 in interpreting modes\, explores their best uses\, and explains how legal 
 and court work differ from other assignments. Through guided practice\, yo
 u’ll get a feel for interpreting where words carry real weight.\n\n\n	This 
 initiative is supported by Justice Canada's Access to Justice in Both Offi

 \n		Certified Translator and Accredited Conference Interpreter\n\n	\n		Jeff Sta
 flund is a certified French-to-English translator and federally accredited
  French/English conference interpreter. Currently based in Winnipeg\, he h
 as worked with languages for over 25 years\, continually building on his o
 wn learning while helping others develop their skills. He holds several de
 grees\, including an EdD focused on interpreter training\, and is active i
 n teaching\, consulting\, and curriculum development. He’s now tackling Sw
 edish as a third working language\, which should be ready for use just in 
 time for retirement speeches.\n	\n\n
