DESCRIPTION:A teaching philosophy statement (TPS) is a short (1-2 page) per
sonal narrative describing your approach to teaching and learning. It is o
ften a crucial part of a teaching portfolio and job application for an aca
demic position. It is an essential first step in building a reflective and
intentional approach to teaching and a tool to monitor your growth as an
educator.  \n\nBefore the workshop\, the organizers will send you resource
s and relevant examples of teaching philosophy statements\, so you can beg
in to reflect on what defines your teaching approach.   \n\nDuring the wor
kshop\, we will work on refining and creating your teaching philosophy sta
tement (or part of it). The workshop facilitators will provide feedback on
your statement in the weeks following the workshop.\n\nRSVP here\n\nNote:
this event is for Chemistry graduate students. This Chem TAP workshop can
count toward fulfilling TA workload hours for training and professional d
evelopment. If you've already completed your hours\, you are still welcome
to attend and participate! \n\nPlease contact the Office of Science Educa
tion with questions (ose [at] mcgill.ca). \n
