DESCRIPTION:Visual memory as a window into the nature of mental representat
 ions\n\nTimothy Brady\, UCSD\n	Tuesday March 18\, 12-1pm\n	Zoom Link: https:
 //mcgill.zoom.us/j/89914150820\n	In Person: 550 Sherbrooke\, Room 189\n	\n	Ab
 stract: Mental representations are often treated as discrete symbolic unit
 s\, but analyzing patterns of behavioral errors reveals a richer structure
 . Using visual memory as a testbed\, we show that measuring similarity spa
 ces through systematic behavioral experiments lets us understand phenomena
  previously attributed to discrete mechanisms as emerging naturally from t
 he geometry of high-dimensional representational spaces. This approach bri
 dges mathematical models of similarity and decision making with empirical
 behavioral data\, providing insights into how the mind represents both sim
 ple visual features and other\, richer concepts.\n
