DESCRIPTION:About the speaker: Dr. Rajandeep Sekhon\, Associate Professor\,
Genetics and Biochemistry\, Clemson University\n\nDr. Rajandeep Sekhon ha
s far and wide-reaching research expertise spanning molecular genetics\, g
 enomics\, tissue- and cell-specific transcriptomics\, metabolomics\, epige
netics\, and statistical genomics. His research program is focused on unde
rstanding the genetic architecture of complex agronomic traits relevant to
boosting climate resilience in maize and sorghum. Most of these traits ar
e controlled by many small effect genes that are often missed by the tradi
tional genetic and genomic approaches. Furthermore\, these traits are dyna
mically shaped by internal and external signals to produce a continuum of
temporal and spatial phenotypes that are not fully captured by traditional
phenotyping approaches. Dr. Sekhon’s lab develops and refine phenotyping
strategies to capture these dynamic phenotypes and use systems-scale integ
ration of multi-omics data to identify underlying genes.\n\nAbout the 4 O'
Clock Forum\n\nThe 4 o'clock forum was launched at the Faculty of Agricult
ural and Environmental Sciences at McGill University's Macdonald campus to
create a platform for McGill Macdonald researchers to broaden their netwo
rks and allow them to enhance interactions among the Macdonald faculty and
beyond and to highlight the ability to deliver outstanding scientific con
tributions. In this forum\, seminars have been organized once a month and
are open to all students\, postdoctoral fellows\, and principal investigat
 ors.\n
