DESCRIPTION:Drawing on six months of fieldwork conducted in a rural Chinese
  hospital\, Professor Zou will present how families cared for sick older a
 dults\, and how care is perceived in local discourse. Her results will sho
 w how specific attention is paid to competing notions of care and how thei
 r meanings are negotiated: local families often show themselves indifferen
 t to elder care and care work is feminized and devalued. These dynamics of
 fer insights into the evolving of patriarchy \, marketisation and state pa

 ly Medicine's Research Program in collaboration with the Global Health Pro
 gram.\n\nJoin meeting \n\nResearch Seminar Series\n\n\n	Every month\, a res
 earch seminar is held at the Department of Family Medicine where we either
  feature visiting researchers from other universities\, or showcase the wo
 rk of our own researchers. The seminars are attended by our graduate stude
 nts\, researchers and clinicians\, and are open to the whole McGill commun
 ity. They address a wide range of research methods and topics relevant to 
 primary health care\, and provide opportunity for interaction and exchange
  with the speakers. The Research Seminars are Fridays at around noon.\n\n
