DESCRIPTION:DATE: October 17th 2023 | TIME: 2:00pm (EST) |  Location: Macdo
nald Engineering Building RM: 497\n\nPresented by Prof. Søren Husted\, Dep
artment of Plant and Environmental Sciences\, University of Copenhagen\, D
enmark.\n\nFree Hybrid Seminar- Available on zoom\n\nDespite progress in i
mproving fertilizers\, the persistent problem of poor nutrient use efficie
ncy (NUE) in agriculture remains a major obstacle to sustainability. Tradi
tional fertilizers suffer from limitations like nutrient fixation\, leachi
ng\, and volatilization\, resulting in only 50% of nitrogen being effectiv
ely utilized\, causing environmental damage and economic losses. Nanotechn
ology offers a promising solution\, with recent advances enabling precise
nutrient delivery through nanofertilizers tailored to crop needs.\n\nThis
presentation highlights how nanotechnology is being used in plant nutritio
n\, discussing progress and challenges in developing biocompatible foliar
and soil-based nanofertilizers to boost nutrient uptake in vital crops.\n
