DESCRIPTION:Montreal Light Microscopy Course (MLMC) Fundamentals 2017!\n\nM
LMC is an intensive one-week course designed to teach researchers about th
e expansive world of microscopy. Beginning with basic properties of light
and optics all the way up to advanced techniques like co-localization\, ph
oto-manipulation\, and 3D image processing and analysis. The goal of the c
ourse is to provide researchers with all the necessary tools required to t
hrive in a microscopy dense environment. Lectures in the morning focus on
teaching theory and are complemented by hands-on laboratory activities in
the afternoon. These labs are designed for the attendee to get their hands
on the microscope as much as possible\, so each group consists of no more
than four (4) people to ensure a thorough experience for everyone involve
d.\n\nMore than teach microscopy\, MLMC is an excellent environment for ne
tworking with other researchers and professionals. This year\, we will be
hosting two networking events on Monday\, February 27th and Wednesday\, Ma
rch 1st to make the most of the attendees experience. Here the attendees w
ill have the opportunity to get to know their fellow researchers and netwo
rk with industry professionals.\n\nTopics that will be covered at MLMC:\n
 \n- Optics: light matter interactions\, basic optics\, image formation\, m
 agnification\, resolution\n	- Transmitted light techniques: phase contrast\
 , DIC\, darkfield\, polarized light\n	- Fluorescence microscopy: dyes\, fil
 ters\, mirrors\, light sources\, and detectors\n	- Practical microscopy: di
 gital imaging\, quantitative microscopy\, and widefield deconvolution\n	- O
ptical sectioning techniques: laser scanning confocal\, resonant scanning\
 , spinning disk\, and live cell imaging\n	- Advanced techniques: co-localiz
 ation\, photo-manipulation\, 3D image processing and analysis\n	- Imaging e
thics and preparing images for publication\n\nREGISTER NOW!\n
