Vitrification may make postponing motherhood easier
Research out of McGill University suggests a new egg-freezing technique, called vitrification, is as safe as conventional in-vitro fertilization treatments and natural conception. Vitrification, a patented technology refined at McGill University, rapidly freezes fragile eggs to prevent ice crystals from forming, which can damage cells. The study, published in the journal Reproductive BioMedicine Online, is the largest to date to look at outcomes of vitrification.
