Sport and the fix of illegal bets

In light of New Jersey Republican Governor Chris Christie's unsurprising willingness to challenge the federal Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA), which limits sports betting to four states ("unsurprising" since New Jersey like many other states and countries are in dire need of new revenues), a reminder of the profound misperceptions, mythologies and misunderstandings upon prohibitions and restrictions of sports betting and online gambling have been based, is timely.
