The Ordre des dentistes du Québec Welcomes the New Jim Lund Dental Clinic in Montreal

Published: 10 February 2011

Montreal, February 11, 2011– The Ordre des dentistes du Québec is very pleased to salute the opening of the Jim Lund Dental Clinic in the Welcome Hall Mission, an organization that helps the homeless.

The clinic, located in one of Montréal's most underprivileged neighbourhoods, will not only meet a serious need for dental care, but will also offer a unique training ground for dental students, by showing them the often complex situation of people living in terrible poverty.

“Dr. Jim Lund was an ardent defender of everyone’s right to dental care. He believed deeply in fairness and social justice, and was very concerned about society’s neediest members. By naming this clinic in his memory, the McGill University Faculty of Dentistry is ensuring that this important responsibility incumbent upon our profession will always be a tangible part of students’ experience,” said Dr. Diane Legault, President of the Ordre des dentistes du Québec.

The Ordre des dentistes du Québec wishes to congratulate Dr. Paul Allison, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at McGill University, and Mr. Cyril Morgan, CEO and Executive Director of Welcome Hall Mission, for making this emarkable idea a reality.
