New Horizons Band Students Join Education Class

Description: EDEA 472 students in their final semester of their Music Education degree are combining with volunteer members from the New Horizons Montreal Band, a intergenerational concert band now in their second year of operation. The seniors are learning how to play band instruments (most are in their 2nd year of this process), and the McGill Students are learning to become teachers. All play together in the class; the pieces are written or arranged by the McGill students.  The seniors get additional playing experience sitting next to McGill music students, who help them to learn their instruments.  The McGill students get feedback on their teaching (both written and verbal). This is the first time that we have collaborated in this manner; it is turning out to be a win-win situation for all, and bilingual too.
