Montreal Gazette - McGill grad touted for Nobel in physiology

Published: 23 September 2010

A native Montrealer, Ralph Steinman, is among three Canadians being touted as possible winners of the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine by Thomson Reuters, a company that uses research data to predict Nobel winners.

Steinman, 67, an immunologist at Rockefeller University in New York City, is seen as a good bet because of his discovery of dendritic cells, key regulators of the immune response. The McGill University graduate currently develops vaccines and therapies for tumors, infections and autoimmune diseases.
