Montreal Gazette - Japan's resilience will prevail again

"Despite what has happened in Japan, there are many nuclear power plants in the world like the one in Fukushima providing energy that is cleaner than fossil fuels. I believe we should not give up on nuclear power. Rather than condemn these plants and restrict the building of newer ones, I would like to see more research into improving disposal methods for spent fuel rods. Events in Fukushima also point to the dire need for more reliable auxiliary power in case of similar outages at nuclear plants.

"Nuclear bombs are another thing. Almost every year on Aug. 6, I read an English version of the mayor of Hiroshima's annual peace message at a ceremony that is held in the Japanese pavilion of Montreal's Botanical Gardens. The message every year includes a plea for no more Hiroshimas and a total ban on nuclear weapons. When will we see the day when they are totally abolished?"
