STE. ANNE DE BELLEVUE, Que. - Brianna Miller scored 23 points and Mandy Mongeon added 20 of her own as the McGill women's rugby team routed the UPEI Panthers 95-0 in a preseason game at McEwen Field, Sunday.

Eleven different members of the Martlets, who blanked Boston University 73-0 on Saturday, were inscribed on the scoresheet, including 10 who tallied tries.

Miller, a physical education freshman from Pte. Claire, Que.,   registered three tries and added four conversions, while Mongeon, a physiology senior from Ile. Bizard, Que., racked up four tries.

Senior Briana Yerbury of Montreal and junior Stephanie Booth of Waterville, Que., each scored a pair.

Also on board was Stephanie Lynam, a long-time McGill rugby veteran from Beaconsfield, Que., who graduated in 2004 but has returned to pursue a master's degree in teaching and learning. She added one conversion to round out the scoring.

The Martlets are 2-0 overall and will play their final preseason game at Concordia on Wednesday (Sept. 8) when the two teams hook up for the sixth annual Drummond Cup contest. Kickoff is 8:30 p.m. at Concordia Stadium.

The Stingers defeated the Martlets 24-7 last September to win their first Drummond Cup after McGill had captured the first four Cup contests. The exhibition game is symbolic of women's university rugby supremacy in Montreal and pays tribute to Kelly-Anne Drummond, a former Stinger who died tragically on Oct. 4, 2004. Her boyfriend was found guilty of killing her in 2006.

For the first time, the event will include a halftime seven-aside game between the Concordia women's alumni and the Montreal Barbarians, a West Island-based club that Drummond also played for.

After the game Doreen Haddad, Kelly-Anne's mother, will present the trophy that bears her daughter's name to the captains of the winning team.

There is no charge to attend the game. However, spectators and participants will be asked to make a donation at the gate to help support Women Aware programs.

Women Aware is a Montreal organization whose mission is to assist and empower women who have experienced conjugal violence through self-help and advocacy in order to improve their quality of life and affect social change.
