Jimena Blumenkron (center on photo), a graduate student working on a master’s degree in law within the Institute of Air and Space Law, received the 2008 International Aviation Women’s Association (IAWA) annual scholarship.

IAWA board member Renee Martin-Nagle (left on photo) and past IAWA president Julie Ellis (right) presented Jimena with the scholarship during the American Bar Association's Forum on Air and Space Law annual meeting and conference, which was jointly hosted by McGill University this September.

Jimena will be pursuing a career in aviation law with an emphasis on aviation safety. Her aim is to help developing countries to identify the gaps in their aviation safety systems and help them to achieve a better understanding and compliance with international regulations. During the past year she has been an intern for ICAO. Jimena has served as a paralegal to the Supreme Court of Justice of Mexico in Mexico City.

The Faculty of Law and the Institute of Air & Space Law offer Jimena Blumenkon their warmest congratulations.
