MONTREAL - Goaltender Charline Labonté of Boisbriand, Que., posted a CIS record 36th career shutout as No.1-ranked McGill blanked the Concordia Stingers 4-0 in women's university hockey at the Ed Meagher arena, Friday.

The result clinched first-place for the Martlets and extended their win streak to 98 consecutive contests over Quebec University Hockey League opponents since 2007 and pushed the Martlets win streak to 37 games against Concordia.

McGill, which had a 46-14 margin in shots, got goals from four different players, three of them coming on the power-play. Jordanna Peroff, a senior from Keswick, Ont., was credited with the game-winner when she snapped a scoreless draw at 3:45 of the second period. Other marksmen included freshman Leslie Oles and sophomore Kim Ton-That, both natives of Beaconsfield, Que., and senior Jasmine Sheehan of Mississauga, Ont.

Labonté, the two-time Olympic gold medalist, has one more shutout than Laurier veteran Liz Knox, who capped off five seasons with a 35th career whitewash in her final regular-season game, Friday. Labonté needed only 14 saves to register the win and improve to 14-0 on the campaign. The three-time All-Canadian leads the nation in shutouts (6), goals-against average (0.65) and save percentage (.958).

In 64 career regular season starts for McGill, she owns a 63-1 record.

The division-leading Martlets, who improved to 17-0 with three games remaining before the post-season, will host fourth-place Ottawa (6-10-1) on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., while second-place Concordia (8-7-2) plays at cellar-dwelling Carleton (3-8-5) at the same time.
