CBC, Postmedia, et al. - Canadian website offers TB info from 180 countries

Ahead of World TB Day [Thursday], a team of Canadian researchers is launching a website that provides free information about tuberculosis vaccination policies for more than 180 countries. The BCG World Atlas, created by researchers at McGill University, is being touted as a first-of-its-kind resource for clinicians, policymakers and researchers.

Tuberculosis is a contagious disease of the lungs caused by bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. For most Canadians the risk of getting TB is low, but an epidemic is raging in Nunavut and high rates have been reported in aboriginal communities. The website is a compilation of information from more than 180 countries on their current and past vaccine policies and practices…
