Published: 16 January 2012

MONTREAL - Ann-Sophie Bettez of Sept-Iles, Que., and Nicolas Langley of Golden, B.C., are the McGill University - Ye Olde Orchard athletes of the week, for the period ending Jan. 15, 2012.

Bettez, a 5-foot-4 forward with the women's hockey team, scored eight points, including three goals in a pair of McGill victories last week. The 24-year-old was in on every goal in a 4-0 win over Concordia last Friday, scoring once and adding three assists. The next day, she tallied twice and added two helpers in a 5-0 decision over the Montreal Carabins. She has returned for a fifth season after graduating with a B.Com last spring and is now enrolled in a public relations management certificate. Bettez, a product of Dawson College, has also had a few stints with the Canadian national program.

Langley, a 6-foot-6, 220-pound forward with the men's basketball squad, scored a season-high 18 points, including the winning basket with 1:57 as McGill edged visiting Bishop's 70-67 at Love Competition Hall last Thursday. A computer science junior who turns 20 on Jan 20, he came off the bench and ended up with 29 minutes of court-time. Langley shot 7-for-13 from the floor, including a 2-for-3 effort from three-point range, and was perfect on both of his free-throws. Prior to enrolling at McGill, he played for St. Mary's high school in his hometown.

Both athletes will receive a gift certificate from Ye Olde Orchard Pub.
