AIRLINE PENSION PAYOUTS TRIMMED

Air Canada has bought itself some breathing room after hammering out tentative agreements on pension funding with its employees, but observers say it still may not be enough to keep the country's largest airline out of bankruptcy protection...Karl Moore, Desautels Faculty of Management of McGill University, said the goal appears to be finding a way to "skinny" through a few more months in the hope that the global economy recovers and the demand for air travel returns. "Is there still a risk of CCAA? Absolutely," he said. "But the risk has gone down significantly over the past week."
