 m the UN and domestic human rights organisations. How are soft law human r
 ights standards\, the UN Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Priso
 ners utilized by national authorities\, civil society and criminal law pra
 ctitioners in Canada ? Are these standards of relevance and value in the d
 omestic context? Vicki Prais explores this issue through research undertak
 en at McGill CHRLP in June 2018 and published in an article\, The Implemen
 tation in Canada of the UN Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Pri
 soners: A Practitioner's Perspective\, Journal of Human Rights Practice\,

 s an internationally experienced human rights lawyer with recognised exper
 tise in the protection of prisoners’ rights\, prison reform\, dignity behi
 nd bars\, the prohibition of torture and ill-treatment and fair trial issu
 es. She works with international organisations\, academic institutions\, n
 on-governmental organisations and governments to research and document hum
 an rights violations\, design and deliver human rights training and to lob
 by and advocate on human rights issues.\n
