Exterior work around McIntyre Garage planned this summer

We write to inform you that we will soon start the exterior work planned as part of the McIntyre Garage renovation.

As this work will be noisy and potentially disruptive, we must conduct it during the summer when there are fewer classes and students circulating in the vicinity.

We understand, of course, that many of you continue to work or study in the buildings adjacent to the garage throughout the summer, so we wish to inform you of the work that is planned.

It will include:

  • The demolition of the concrete slab of the garage (with heavy demolition tools)
  • The replacement of the waterproofing membrane of the slab, including on loading docks
  • Repairs on the exterior walls
  • Redoing the finishes and the asphalt on the exterior parking area
  • Lifting operations

This work will start on May 13, 2019 and should be completed by August 26, 2019. It will be conducted from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Overnight work will also continue.

We are working closely with the building directors of the adjacent buildings to minimize the impact of the work on the occupants and the activities planned this summer. For example, the resurfacing of the exterior parking area will be conducted over a period of nine consecutive days where the loadings docks/waste management trailer/waste container located on the P-1 level will not be accessible. We will keep the building directors informed of the precise dates as they are determined.

We apologize for the inconvenience and disruptions that are likely to result from this work. As we have mentioned previously, this project is necessary to ensure the continued safety of the users of the garage.

If you have questions or comments until then, do not hesitate to communicate with your building director, who will connect with us.
