From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to McGill students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

Construction Start: Life Science Complex - CFI BRIF Vidal

McGill University has mandated Corenov to carry out the following project: Life Science Complex / 21-049 - CFI BRIF Vidal.

The project consists of renovating the CL3 laboratory in Life Sciences to accommodate new equipment and facilitate future maintenance work for the facility.

Construction start: March 2024

Planned construction end date: Fall 2024

Work schedule: Mondays to Fridays, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Any additional hours will be coordinated.

Scope of work: The scope of work consists of mechanical and electrical interventions to accommodate the new CFI equipment for the CL3 facility, including new bio safety cabinets and a new autoclave. The renovation also includes re-positioning exhaust fans in the main mechanical room to be more easily accessible and maintained without affecting the operations of the CL3 facility. Architectural interventions are included to allow access above the ceiling for electrical and mechanical interventions. The ceilings, floors, and walls will be resealed and refinished to ensure they meet the cleanability requirements.

Impact: 

Service shutdowns will be required. Occupants of the building will be informed.

During construction, access to certain spaces outside the construction zone will be required for the installation or modification of electromechanical services. Such construction work will be coordinated in advance with the building director and the building occupants.
