Whither Wildlife in the 21st century?
Sunday, October 18, 2009 15:00
Redpath Museum
859 rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montreal, QC, H3A 0C4, CA
Public lecture by David Bird, Prof. of Wildlife Biology
and Director Avian Science and Conservation Centre (McGill). With
six billion people and counting, the world rushes headlong into the
21st century and wildlife is caught in the headlights. Habitat
degradation, exploitation and invasive species are all taking their
toll and there will be winners and losers. Professor Bird will
discuss what the future holds for some of the Earth’s most
vulnerable species. Following the discussion, there will be a
special presentation, as a preserved passenger pigeon is donated to
the Museum by Bird Protection Quebec/Protection des oiseaux du
Québec. To register please visit Alumnilife.
