Special Colloquium: Anesthesiology and nutrition techniques to blunt the stress response to surgery
The School of Dietetics and Human Nutrition invites you to attend a Special Colloquium, with invited guest speaker Dr. Andrea Kopp Lugli, M.D. (Zurich), M.Sc. (McGill), Attending Anesthesiologist Department of Anaesthesia and Surgical Intensive Care, University Hospital, Basel, Switzerland.
Andrea Kopp Lugli is a venia docendi (associate professor) and board certified anesthesiologist and intensivist in the Department of Anesthesia and Surgical Intensive Care at the University Hospital in Basel, Switzerland. She earned her MD from the University of Zurich and did a residency in anesthesiology at the Kantonsspital Aarau and University Hospital in Basel. In 2005, she came to Canada on a fellowship from the Swiss National Science Foundation. She earned her Master of Science in Human Nutrition in the School of Dietetics and Human Nutrition while doing a fellowship in Anesthesiology at McGill University Health Centre. Her major research focus is in how the surgical stress response is exacerbated in patients with pre-existing insulin resistance including Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
