Seeking Foundation Funding: Info Session for Faculty

The Offices of Sponsored Research (OSR) and Development & Alumni Relations (DAR) are pleased to invite McGill researchers to an information session about how to approach foundations for research funding.

The session will provide background into how foundations operate, how McGill works to obtain foundation funding, and how researchers can be better equipped to approach foundations for funding.

Prof. Becky Lentz from McGill’s Department of Art History and Communication Studies will share her insights from her tenure at the Ford Foundation, while Melissa Poueymirou (DAR) and Joanna Mastalerek (OSR) will provide context for how both DAR and OSR work to engage foundations at McGill.

Dr. Becky Lentz is an Assistant Professor of Media and Public Policy at McGill University where she has been teaching Media and Internet Governance since Fall 2008. A former program officer for media policy and technology at The Ford Foundation in New York City between 2001-2008, she specializes in telecommunication policy, philanthropy, and the non-profit sector, focusing her research on the capacity of citizen and consumer groups to represent their interests in Internet Freedom policy at the national and international level.
