Jill Tarter served as Project Scientist for NASA's SETI program, the High Resolution Microwave Survey and has conducted numerous observational programs at radio observatories worldwide. For the past half-century, SETI, the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence has been attempting to use astronomers' tools to detect evidence of some other civilization's technology.
