Medicine is on the brink of major change, and stem cells are the engine behind much of it.

Stem cell research has in recent years given rise to a variety of important medical breakthroughs and will ultimately change the way we treat an array of conditions, including heart disease. On Wednesday, September 14, join us for a special public forum, “Innovations in Cardiac Care: Stem Cells in the Repair and Regeneration of Heart Muscle,“ with Dr. Victor Dzau, BSc’68, MDCM’72, DSc’08.

Dr. Dzau, Duke University’s chancellor of health affairs and the president and CEO of Duke University Health Systems, is the winner of the 2011 Henry G. Friesen International Prize in Health Research. In his talk, he will address the potential stem cell research holds for the treatment of heart disease and other cardiac concerns.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear one of the world’s most eminent medical researchers discuss the future of health care. Admission is free, and a reception will follow. To register, visit http://www.fcihr.ca/prize/events.
