Who should attend?
Students travelling outside of Canada for University-related travel during the 2011-12 academic year including bilateral exchanges, internships, independent study-away, graduate work, undergraduate research or other related activities who have not previously attended a Pre-Departure Orientation session.

Topics covered at the session include:
- Canadian Consular Services (Travel Reports from the Department of Foreign Affairs);
- Personal health abroad, including healthy travel tips;
- McGill University-Related Travel Guidelines;
- Managing your success abroad; and
- Travel Registry*
-*All students participating in a University-related travel activity (such as a bilateral exchange, internship, independent study-away, graduate work or other activity) are required to register their travel on Minerva: www.mcgill.ca/students/international/registry/.
The McGill University-Related Travel Guidelines require all students participating in a University-related international travel activity to attend Pre-Departure Orientation.
* Graduate students travelling to attend international conferences or formally organized workshops in countries listed by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT - http://www.voyage.gc.ca/index-eng.asp) at Level-1 (Exercise normal security precautions) or Level-2 (Exercise a high degree of caution) are not required to attend Pre-Departure Orientation but are required to complete a Travel Registry form on Minerva for all travel activities.
