A Talk by Julia H. Fawcett

Julia H. Fawcett is an assistant professor of eighteenth-century literature at Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario. Her work has appeared in PMLA, The Eighteenth Century: Theory and Interpretation and Modern Drama. Her first book, Spectacular Disappearances: Celebrity and Privacy, 1696-1801, is forthcoming from University of Michigan Press in spring 2016. She is currently at work on a second book, tentatively entitled Unmapping London: Urbanization and Performance after the Great Fire, which uses the dramas, dances, and live performances of the English Restoration (1666-1714) to explore how the Great Fire and the frenzy of rebuilding that followed it changed conceptions of city space.
