Open Forum: Cycling and Pedestrian Safety on the Downtown Campus
University Services and SSMU will co-sponsor an open forum on Thursday, Sept. 23, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the ballroom of the Student Centre on McTavish Street. The goal of this event is to provide an opportunity for members of the McGill community to share views in light of recent changes on the downtown lower campus that have affected pedestrians, cyclists and drivers of vehicles.
Special emphasis will be placed on how an appropriate balance can be struck between the needs of cyclists and pedestrians. An introductory presentation will be made of the background history that led to the changes over the past summer, followed by an open session in which the audience members will be invited to share comments, exchange ideas and engage in a discussion.
A panel of McGill students and staff will be on hand to stimulate conversation and respond to questions when needed. Everyone from the McGill community is invited.
