Redpath Museum
859 rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montreal, QC, H3A 0C4, CA
For the past 10 years, McGill University has made a point of planting native and perennial species of trees and understory plants all with an eye to increasing biodiversity and eliminating the need for irrigation and chemical fertilizers. During the same period, grounds workers have experimented with species rarely planted in our climatic zone. To take advantage of the flowers in the spring forest, this tree tour will start with trilliums, take in the Sumacs and Serviceberries, pass through a patch of Sugar maple forest, and brush with a Turkish hazelnut and the Cedar of Lebanon.
Cost: $12 per person.
Degree of difficulty: Be prepared to climb the University Street hill.
