Functional brain mapping in neurological and neurosurgical patients.

Objectives:

1)   To provide an overview of the methods used for functional mapping of language and sensorimotor function in the clinical evaluation of patients.

2)   To provide information about the relative merits of PET and fMRI for use in a clinical setting.

3)   To discuss specific cases where functional imaging provides insights about the relationship between brain structure and function.
