Lunch Lecture Series: Recovery and motivation - Motivating Day In and Day Out:The Crossroads Day Hospital

Tuesday, May 7, 2013 12:00to13:00

Motivating Day In and Day Out: The Crossroads Day Hospital is part of the Recovery at its core lunch lecture series. The lectures are on four major themes, and will be held from March 12 to June 11, 2013. The series is presented by the Clinical Activities, Knowledge Transfer and Teaching Directorate (CAKTTD).

Summary
The therapeutic work done in a mental health day hospital often goes unnoticed by the public and clinicians. This presentation will identify, for clinicians and partners, the importance of this type of service in the recovery continuum. The role of a day hospital, the motivation of each individual, the ambivalence that patients experience, the capacity for change and resistance within such a framework will be presented. Crossroads users will also be on hand to relate their personal experiences with the 8-week session at this small house by the roadside.
