University of Ottawa
Date: March 14, 2014
Time: 12:00 pm - 02:00 pm
Location: Room 310
This talk focuses on the business of medicine. While the healthcare field witnessed significant medical breakthroughs that resulted in improved diagnostic and surgical procedures, targeted therapies, and outstanding patient outcomes, the same cannot be said about the delivery of these innovative medical solutions.
The speaker, drawing from his own experiences designing, developing, and implementing the family of clinical decision support systems (http://www.mobiledss.uottawa.ca) will discuss the challenges associated with introducing non-medical innovation in healthcare. The talk will explore the links between the bench-to-bedside culture of medical research and the process of introducing innovative business of medicine solutions derived from Operations Research models and health informatics. It will also explore how participatory medicine affects the innovation process in healthcare.
A light lunch will be served.
