Isabella was a dynamic woman who had much to do with Spanish nationalism.  She was a devout Roman Catholic, which was a big influence on her reign.  Because of this she supported the Spanish Inquisition, and she expelled the Jews from Spain in 1492.  She supported Columbus, so was involved in the European discovery of America.
