Faculty Club : 3450 rue McTavish Montreal Quebec Canada , H3A 0E5

When done well, rating scales or rubrics provide greater transparency, reliability, defensibility and efficiency in scoring, and encourage students to be involved in their own assessment. In this interactive session participants will identify the difficulties involved in assessing student learning, and explore practical strategies to overcome them.

By the end of this interactive workshop you will be able to:

  • Identify assessment criteria from samples of successful student work
  • Create your own empirically‐based rating scales
  • Use simple strategies to increase student involvement in the assessment process and their responsibility for learning
