Opening address of WISEMS (Women in Science, Engineering and Medicine Symposium).
By Margaret Rossiter (Marie Underhill Noll Professor of the History of Science at Cornell University). This presentation launches WISEMS (Women in Science, Engineering and Medicine Symposium) which takes place on the following day and marks the centenary of McGill's geneticist, Carrie Derick, and her appointment as Canada's first female professor.
