Graduate Teaching Workshop
Are you worried that your teaching skills are lacking? Would you like to use your time more efficiently and learn how to be more effective in front of a class? Do you want to learn teaching techniques geared specifically for science graduate students? Here’s your chance! Registration is now open for the August 2011 Graduate Teaching Workshop from the Tomlinson Project in University-Level Science Education (T-PULSE)!
This popular two-day workshop offers participants the opportunity to reflect upon their own approaches towards teaching, to develop skills for demonstrating in laboratories & discussion sections, and to provide a foundation for future academic positions.
We will provide strategies for ensuring that there is a close relationship between teaching & learning and explore learner-centered approaches to teaching that can be easily used in the lab or classroom.
This workshop is designed for Faculty of Science graduate students, especially those who are TA-ing or considering careers in academia.
There are two sections:
Section 15: Tuesday, August 23rd and Thursday, August
25th
or
Section 16: Wednesday, August 24th and Friday, August 26th
The workshop runs from 10:00am – 4:00pm each day. A free lunch is provided each day, and everyone who attends both full days will receive a certificate (see attached sample). The certificate is a useful addition to your teaching portfolio.
