The Global Health Programs 2009 Global Health Night

Thursday, November 19, 2009 17:00to19:00

The Global Health Night of the GHP is held to highlight and foster the involvement of students and faculty at McGill in multicultural or international electives and exchanges.  This year, it will be held in the Bellini Atrium of the Life Sciences Complex at 3649 Prom Sir William Osler (next to the McIntyre Building) on November 19th, 2009 from 5 pm to 7 pm.  The evening will feature a guest speaker from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the announcement of the Chan award and OMAF scholarships, a poster display and a reception.

The event will begin with a guest lecture by Dr. Fernando Zacarias, a Senior Advisor in Family and Community Health at PAHO, whose talk entitled ‘Health in the Americas: Past, Present and Future’ will address issues regarding the role of family and community health in global health.

As this event presents an opportunity to provide a forum to bring together students and faculty from all backgrounds who are involved in global health initiatives at McGill, students from all faculties are invited to present a poster outlining their global health experience.  These posters will be displayed on poster boards at the event, to allow for sharing and discussion during the reception.

If you would like to present a poster at the Global Health Night, please email globalhealth [at] mcgill.ca by November 9th in order to arrange for appropriate space.  While a RSVP is not necessary to attend the event, it would be appreciated in order to facilitate planning.

Hope to see you there!
