Earth Day at the Redpath Museum - Creating fuel wood in Uganda

Sunday, April 22, 2007 13:30to15:00
Redpath Museum 859 rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montreal, QC, H3A 0C4, CA
Presentation by Michael Stern and Rebecca Goldstone, founders, Kibale Community Fuel Wood Project. Begun in 2001 to preserve the forests of Kibale National Park, the project is a collaboration between McGill University, Chimp-n-Sea Wildlife Conservation Fund and the Uganda Wildlife Authority. It establishes demonstration tree nurseries and private woodlots, and educates and trains local students and park people about energy stability and fuel wood management. By creating a legal wood source the project helps to secure a stable future for both wildlife and humans. Free admission; everyone welcome
