Dante in the "Comedy'"

Italian Studies Speakers Series: Lino Pertile, Harvard University. Taking his cue from the changing title of the Divine Comedy, Prof. Pertile will discuss and question the recent critical tradition that distinguishes three Dantes in the poem: character, narrator and author. He argues that the original title (Comedia Dantis Alagherii) encapsulates Dante's claim that character, narrator and author are one.
