Call for abstracts for the Interdisciplinary Graduate Student Research Symposium

Friday, January 15, 2010toFriday, February 12, 2010

The Seventh Interdisciplinary Graduate Student Research Symposium will be held on March 25-26, 2010. Share your research with other grad students! Give a talk or present a poster at this year’s symposium. Submit your abstract before February 12, 2010.

Graduate students, both from within and outside McGill, are invited to participate and present research projects on a variety of interdisciplinary scientific themes. An emphasis is placed on communication of ideas to an audience encompassing a broad range of scientific interests and expertise. This annual event provides a forum for students in the natural and social sciences to develop a suite of interpersonal and professional skills that will undoubtedly enhance their ability to interact with others in today's global community.

Both short talks and poster presentations are invited. Prizes are awarded. Judging focuses on how effectively the research is communicated.

This event is organized entirely by students - for students!

Bridging the sciences

An interdisciplinary (as opposed to simply multidisciplinary) event brings its own set of challenges and opportunities. We hope that participants will try to make connections between their work and other related (and perhaps seemingly unrelated) areas of the Natural and Social sciences.
